I’ve entered a couple of images in this year’s PDN Faces photo contest, so I thought I would share them here, and encourage your votes for People’s Choice.
I don’t normally enter contests, but when I got the email calling for entries, I figured, “why not?”

So, here are my two entries with a little background info on each.
This first image is one that I personally like from a shoot I did recently.
Juliana is a musician, singer, songwriter here in Austin with a great voice.
I put her out in this field, and just had her play us some tunes.
Using only a single Profoto Acute head in a beauty dish, I over powered the afternoon sun to give this set of images a more dramatic feel.
She was really thrilled with them, and that always makes me happy
The second image that I submitted was in the self-portrait category.
This image is of me (of course) and the tattoos going across both of my arms.
The reason for the image was figuring out a lighting plan for a project that I’m currently working on. Nothing fancy here, just another single light setup using a beauty dish, with a roll of black seamless as the background.
When it comes to experimenting with lighting, and figuring out how I want the final images to look, I’m always the most available lighting stand-in. Because of this, I have a lot of self portraits
If you like these images, please vote for them here.
Thanks in advance
