DFJ Blog News

One item on my TO DO list for 2010 involves my blog. To be more specific, it involves a move, a redesign, as well as more useful, informative, and regular posts.

This blog already lives on Blogger.com, but I’ve just never been completely satisfied with this as a blogging platform. In the last couple of months, I’ve toyed around with WordPress, and I really like how it looks and feels, so I’ll be making the transition to that as my blogging platform over the next week or so.

With that of course, comes a new look. One of the great add-ons available with liveBooks is the option to have them hook me up with a WordPress theme to match my site. Since I’m really picky about keeping the look and feel of everything uniform and consistent, this option is perfect for me.

Also with the move comes a new address for the blog. Once everything is in place, this blog will live at http://blog.dfjphoto.com. It seems as if Blogger.com has a way to redirect my visitors to the new address, so hopefully the transition will be a smooth one. On the other hand, if you’ve bookmarked this blog, go ahead and update it with the new URL.

As for posting, I’ve been asked some really good questions lately, both online and in person, related to what it takes to become a working photographer. I’m assembling those Qs and As into posts that will share my own experiences, in hopes of helping others in their journey. I’m no expert or know-it-all when it comes to this topic, but in my ongoing adventure, I’ve either been there/done that, or going there/trying that.

I really enjoy answering these types of questions and sharing what I know. Many people have helped me along the way, both directly and indirectly, so this is a way for me to pay it forward. These questions allow me to gauge how much I’ve learned along the way as well as how much I still have to learn in this business, and all while helping others, so please send them in.

I’ll keep everyone posted both here and on Twitter, as to when the blog changes go into effect. I expect the move and redesign to be finished by next week at the latest.

I’m looking forward to the changes, and connecting with as many of you as possible.

Have a great week!

Share and Enjoy
