… and I’ll say it again …
I have a bad habit of neglecting this blog.
It’s not that I mean to, I have a lot I’d like to write about, from business to tech.
The problem is finding the time to sit down and write those posts.
With 2010 upon us, I’ve been super busy with launching a new website, heavily targeted marketing, preparing for tax time, and a lot of new work. All while trying to maintain my sanity.
I’m actively working on new posts talking about the above mentioned tasks, as well as a few others, and I plan on posting at least one a week, with perhaps a quickie on Fridays or Saturdays.
I definitely tweet more than I blog, because it’s easier. I can quickly type something relevant to business or my life as a photographer, and share it with the world. Not only can I do that easily tweet from my computer, but I can also send out tweets from my phone, like I did yesterday while sitting in traffic.
With a blog post, I have to sit down and put a bit more thought, and refinement into it. In order to do that, and keep this blog active, entertaining, and hopefully educational, I’m setting aside dedicated time to focus on just blog posts.
Why am I posting all of this ramble this morning?
Well, as a routine, each morning, I sit down at my desk with my coffee, read/reply to emails, and read up on my RSS feeds of industry blog posts.
This morning, ASMP’s Strictly Business blog is titled “Blogs and Your Business.”
In it, Jay Kinghorn gives a hint at some of the practices he follows when writing blog posts, as well as links to another great article on ProBlogger.
I took this as a sign to get off my ass (well, sit on it actually), and pump out some meaningful blog posts regularly – starting with this one.
Answering questions makes for good, informative blog posts. I was recently asked a few questions about the business of photography, and I’m working on posts to address those questions, and will be posting them soon.
I’m not saying that I’m a wiz when it comes to photography, business, or anything else, but I have been there/done that, and so I can definitely give you my insight to what I’ve done and let you know what worked and what didn’t.
So please, if you have any questions relating to business, photography, or how I did something, let me know. Answers to these types of questions make good blog posts.
Enough ramble for now – I’ve got blog posts to write.
Share and Enjoy
